Oklahoma Honor Flights

Oklahoma Honor Flights, part of a national organization created in 2005, took 97 veterans from more than 40 Oklahoma cities to the National World War II Memorial in Washington DC. The veterans were honored by Oklahoma Honor Flights May 16th at a reception at the Sheraton MWC Hotel at the Reed Conference Center. The group left for Washington for the one day trip on May 17th. The National Honor Flights program has taken over 36,000 veterans nationwide to Washington since the organization was established. Rep. Gary Banz, R-Midwest City, said the idea for bringing the program to Oklahoma began when a Midwest City resident took the trip with a Texas group. The Oklahoma Chapter was formed in 2009. Two more flights are scheduled for this year. Interested in being a part of the organization? Click here
